"Hello potential students. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Shari Brindley, and I am a nurse practitioner and nurse educator with over 40 years of experience. Although healthcare is my primary background, as a result of substitute teaching in our public school system, I have developed multiple skills and talents to address numerous subjects. I have, in my practice as an NP, treated and counseled individuals with ADHD. I feel comfortable assisting those people attain educational and professional goals. I have assisted folks training in all aspects of healthcare, starting with those persons preparing for CNA certification progressing to medical students. I will evaluate the student's basic knowledge and test-taking skills by administering a mock exam. Then, together, we will develop a strategy to address areas of concern. I am well-versed with the NCLEX nextGen-style questions used by nursing schools and with the actual certification exam. I will assist with improvement of test-taking skills. I also have a background in trauma nursing. I have taught BLS and ACLS. Having worked in the ER for 10 years, I possess keen assessment skills. I feel competent to help persons preparing to become paramedics or EMTs. I have worked with many adult learners. I can assist with GED preparation by administering a mock exam.
Those who have worked with me in the past find me patient, knowledgeable, and passionate about learning. They feel like they can approach me if they're having a problem understanding some difficult information. My particular talent lies in my ability to explain complex concepts in easier-to-understand terms. If a student of mine doesn't do well, I feel like I failed them. I am very invested in the success of my students. Many people have trouble relaxing while taking exams. I have some exercises to try for test anxiety. My schedule is flexible, and I make myself accessible to my students." less...
