"Hi there, I am Cylina!

I am currently a graduate student conducting research at the University of North Carolina- Charlotte. I have a B.A. in Political Science where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, I am a member of the National Political Science Honor Society (Pi Sigma Alpha) and was a chapter leader of the North Carolina Student Legislature where I worked on resolutions that made it to the North Carolina legislature.

In a past life, I was a nurse! And my career started in in the Army, where I completed nursing school and passed my NCLEX while being active duty. I then went on to deploy and care for service members in need. After 5 years in the Army, I went back to school and started working as an in-school tutor for a 6-12 alternative school. I tutored middle and high school students in economics, math 1 (pre-algebra/ algebra/ geometry), English composition, American history, world history, and general ACT prep.

I am interdisciplinary in nature and I am currently in an interdisciplinary master's program where I am combining the disciplines of public health, public policy, and sociology. Needless to say, I have extensive experience writing for an academic audience, I have advanced knowledge in the social sciences and humanities, and I am completely dedicated to higher education." less...
