"Hi, I’m Doraelia—a college admissions mentor with 22 years of admissions experience, 11 years of 1:1 tutoring, and 8 years of classroom teaching.

I earned my B.A. from Brown University in Education and Playwriting (GPA 3.9), an M.F.A. in Painting from Claremont (GPA 4.0), and completed post-doctoral study in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art (GPA 4.0). My academic background includes a 1530 SAT, 5 AP scores of 5, GRE Writing score of 5.5 (99th percentile), and I was a UK Fulbright Finalist (≈2% acceptance rate).

As a student, I was accepted to Brown, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, William & Mary, Rice, Tulane, and Reed, receiving full-ride scholarships to every institution. A regional admissions officer from Brown personally shared that my application essay was considered one of the admissions committee’s favorites that year.

For Brown University I am an alumni interviewer since 2006, interviewing and formally evaluating applicants for the Southwest U.S. region. I also served as a Brown University essay reader (2003–2006). Additionally, I work with students in the Brown Pre-College Summer Program, advising on college readiness and application strategy.
