"I graduated from Cornell with a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations, and graduated from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University with a Master in Public Administration. In keeping with my passions for writing, research, history, and public policy, I have served as a Writing and English tutor for four years.
At Cornell, I served as a Writing tutor at the Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines. I worked one-on-one with college students to improve their writing skills and to revise their pieces, including but not limited to, homework assignments, academic and scientific papers, graduate school and job application essays, resumes, and creative writing pieces. In my capacity as a Writing tutor, I also worked with high school students on their pieces, particularly college application essays and final papers.
Currently, I serve as an ESL tutor, working one-on-one with non-Native English speakers to practice and improve their English skills. I work with students of all ages, from professionals to high school students. My approach is based on a discussion and conversation-focused format, where I enable the student to achieve more confidence in their skills through practice.
I have also tutored high school students one-on-one in SAT Reading and Writing, as well as in English and History courses, such as AP Europe, AP English Language and Composition, and AP U.S. History.
My tutoring philosophy is focused solely on improving the student's ability to trust in themselves and their inherent skills. Be it through improvement on writing, research, academic tasks, or English speaking skills, I aim to create a warm and welcoming environment for students to express their best selves. My goal is not solely to improve their writing or language skills, but to make my students better writers and communicators.
I am excited to get to know you, and Happy Writing!" less...
