"Hey, there — I'm Simeon! I have a B.M. in Guitar Performance and Music History from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, a M.A. in Historical Musicology from UConn, a M.A. in Musicology from Princeton University, and am about to complete my Ph.D in Musicology from Princeton. In other words, I've been in school for a long time and know what a student needs to have a successful academic career. Indeed, throughout my time in school, I have learned it wasn't interesting classes that spurred my curiosity, development, and success. Instead, it was invested and patient instructors who radically impacted my learning. These teachers gave me tools to become a better writer, researcher, historian, musician, thinker, and student by balancing explicit instruction and asking compelling questions.

I bring this approach and my wealth of expertise from over a decade in academia to my tutoring. From individualized lesson plans to engaging, creative, and understanding instruction, I strive to make every tutoring session interesting, informative, and developmental. To do this, I emphasize the importance of students asking questions, putting information into their own words, and practicing assignments independently. I have honed my pedagogical approach over 7 years of individual music lessons and hundreds of students taught in classrooms from UConn to Princeton University since 2018.

Through my extensive experiences as a student and teacher at an Ivy League school, I am qualified to tutor English, Writing, History, and Music (history and theory).
