"Hi I’m Jackie M! I am a rising junior student at the University of Maryland, College Park that is studying criminal Justice and criminology. Being a student of this tech ridden classroom I have seen first hand how over utilizing AI can be detrimental to one’s learning. I am not a “no technology” student or tutor; it has great benefits but it is vital for elementary students to learn basic mathematic and reading skills in order to excel in all areas outside the classroom. I don’t want the upcoming generation of leaners to be hyper dependent on AI, technology, and the aid of a teacher when they may not be readily available to help.

I have experience interning 300 plus hours in an elementary school under a third grade teacher with the privilege of instructing a small group of 5-10 students. My focus group that I instructed were with students that were falling behind in their reading level: pronunciation, phonics, and mathematics skills: multiplication, division, and comprehending word problems. Through that experience, I implemented flash cards, lesson plans, and weekly skill level “testing” to benefit the student.

I want to create a safe space for your child to learn, make mistakes, and grow! I know what it is like for a student to fall behind and yet not get the attention and time they need to catch up with their other students. I want to help change that and create a difference.
