"Because of the drastic differences between Japanese and English, trying to learn one or the other can certainly be frustrating and definitely requires a lot of patience. I am a native speaker of Japanese and English. I also worked as a Japanese tutor for 4 years during college and an ESL/Japanese tutor on Wyzant for 10+ years. So, I understand that "this is just how it is; memorize it" type of explanation is not helpful at all. Whatever your level is currently, I believe I can work with you to fully grasp the language.

I am flexible when it comes to textbooks and I will work with your strengths/weaknesses. So, please feel free to let me know what you are using or what you would like to work on. Below are some of the textbooks I commonly use.

Japanese Textbooks:

I am familiar with "Yokoso," "Genki," and "Adventures in Japanese." However, I like "Japanese from Zero" the most, especially for absolute beginners.

English Textbooks:

For beginners, I lean towards the "Practice Makes Perfect" series. If you are a more advanced student and learned English in a more traditional Japanese education system, I like using "Speak English Like an American for Native Japanese Speakers."

If a tutoring session needs to be canceled for any reason, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. When notified in advance, I am usually available to reschedule the class date/time. If the student/tutor does not make contact after 10 minutes of the scheduled time without any notification, the class will be considered a no-show and will be canceled.
