"Hello future lovers of literature! I am looking forward to teaching you or your child how to analyze challenging texts ranging from poetry to short stories to plays and novels--and of course how to formulate all of your confident and creative inferences into provocative and masterful essays that will garner you only the highest marks on your assessments. Do you need help with your summer reading book and assignment? Do you want to get an edge on your classmates and impress your teacher with ideas that you formulated? Have poems always seemed blurry and boring to you? I can teach you how to analyze and enjoy them!
Through 25 years of classroom experience, teaching a culturally diverse group of students here in Miami, both at the university and high school, I have developed a light-hearted and nonjudgmental approach to education. My classroom is a non-threatening, bright and positive space where the teacher is more of a collaborator than a lecturer. I excel at training students how to become free thinkers through close reading and careful textual analysis. I am a proud father of five and look forward to assessing your child's educational needs with the same love I approach my own children with.

I taught Composition 1101 and 1102 at FIU for seven years, and I have taught Advanced Placement Literature and Composition at my local high school for the last eight years. I have also taught every high school grade and am familiar with their curriculums and requirements, although teaching upper level students how to analyze literature and develop claims about their newfound ideas is my specialty. My job as a literature professor is not to give a student ideas, it is to engender a curiosity and confidence that leads them to their own." less...
