"HI! I'm Jediel. Most people call me JD. I'm a graduate from St. Mark's School of Texas, one of the best college preparatory schools in the U.S, and I'm currently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Rochester.

I'm proficient in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus (Trigonometry) and Calculus through Multivariable Calculus, as well as Physics 1.

My goals for students are not just to improve grades or test scores (which will happen, of course!) but to find in each student an intrinsic motivation and a love for learning. I focus on finding ways building deep conceptual understanding so that students can approach any math or physics problem with complete confidence. I understand that everyone comes from different backgrounds and sees the world differently, so I encourage my students to find their own frameworks for understanding. We'll have fun along the way, and my hope is that after working with me my students feel like there is no problem they can't solve.

My passion for math education (and education in general) started after studying Precalculus with Dr. Zuming Feng, an instructor with many years of experience as a coach and team leader for the US IMO Team, Academic Director of Idea Math, and former teacher at Philips Exeter Academy. He truly changed the way I approached math and I strive to channel his teaching methods in my tutoring work.

I taught Math and Science at the Brendan Court Summer Enrichment Program in 2024 and have tutored independently in the past. I also have experience mentoring younger students through two years as mentor in the Telos Leadership program at St. Mark's.

I'm flexible with timing and easy to reach, so if students or parents have questions I'm always happy to answer.
