"I’m a certified elementary teacher (grades 1-6). I love working with children and have been a classroom teacher for 7 years. When working with kids I highlight strengths and build positive connection while keeping expectations high. I’ve worked in a range of grades which gives me a unique, in depth understanding of skills elementary students need, from the basics to the more complex concepts.

I value being highly prepared for lessons and I work hard to find new approaches for students that need material presented in different ways. I have a lot of tools that I know how to use and I also have colleagues that I reach out to when I need new ideas and strategies. I love seeing students’ confidence grow as they grasp new concepts!

I am currently certified as an elementary teacher. I earned my Masters of Education from UMass Amherst in 2009. I went on to earn a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) from American International College in Elementary Education. I have worked with programs like Fundations, Words Their Way, Singapore Math, among others.

I enjoy creating engaging lessons that draw students into all books have to offer. In creating these lessons I know how to assist them in learning better word solving strategies, comprehension strategies, as well as working on specific structure for writing pieces. I have many resources that I can draw from to create specific lessons for students.

I’ve used Fundations and Words Their Way as specific programs and have found them to be successful when coupled with a rich, thoughtful reading program. I have used resources from Fountas and Pinnell to accompany reading and writing programs to assist students in becoming competent and confident in their writing. This includes confidence in writing structure as well as spelling competency. I had a very hard time understanding the rules of spelling as a learner and I feel that that has helped me to be able to empathize and assist my students.
