I'm Laura, a German tutor based in Milwaukee, WI, USA. I hold a BA in General Linguistics and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in German. I am fluent in English and German and I speak conversational Spanish. I began tutoring in 2019 as a volunteer ESL tutor with a local charity. When COVID shifted education online, I transitioned to virtual tutoring and have since specialized in teaching German to adolescents and adults. While I have experience teaching children as young as three, I only offer in-person lessons for students under 13.

My teaching style draws on my background in linguistics, as well as my 20+ years of studying German. My knowledge of phonetics and phonology makes me particularly effective in helping students refine their German accent. I emphasize clear instruction on rules, supported by numerous examples and practice opportunities, resulting in an analytical and often grammar-focused approach.
