"I am a licensed CPA with a bachelor's degree in accounting. I also hold a Master of Science degree in accounting and taxation. While in graduate school, I held a leadership position in an honors organization which provided tutoring to accounting students. I gained experience helping students 3 – 5 hours a week for 3 years with many different questions related to Accounting and Finance. These tutoring sessions were open format and would range from 1-5 students depending on the day. In these sessions I would walk each student through the questions that they were facing problems with. The students that I was tutoring were at the college level and averaged in the 19 to 30 age range. After obtaining my Master’s degree, I continued to tutor 2-3 students each semester in 1 on 1 weekly sessions for another 2 years.

From my personal experience, I find that learning accounting is most efficient when presented visually. I like to provide this same tutoring strategy for students. My tutoring style is to walk through a question step by step with a student so that we can analyze the problem and discuss the best approach to apply accounting concepts.

Since completing graduate school, I have spent the past 9 years working in different accounting roles in multiple industries. My work experience provides me a wide range of working examples that can be useful when working with students. Accounting courses were a career changing experience for me.
