"Hi! I'm Dorie!

As a previous teacher with over 8 years of experience, I am passionate about supporting students in finding success and confidence in their academic journeys. My background and training allow me to individualize lessons to meet students where they are within subjects and then build upon that knowledge.

My philosophy starts with identifying the student's strengths and guiding them to learn how to use those skills across all subjects. The school day rarely offers time and space to identify the strategies and tools that best help you hold on to new concepts and ideas. As a tutor, I specialize in supporting students to believe in what they are truly capable of achieving!

My education includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, a Master's Degree in Special Education, training and practicum work in the Orton-Gillingham approach, a certification working with students with Autism and Significant Support needs, 7 years in the classroom teaching 4th and 5th-grade students, 5 years of executive functioning training, and 4 years of private tutoring in person and online. This experience allows me to curate materials and resources that make each session beneficial.
