"Greetings! My name is Fabrizio. I have a bachelor's degree with a double major in philosophy and religion, as well as a master's in theology and religion. I continued these interests through coursework for a PhD, but I eventually left that pursuit to explore other opportunities. Currently, I am a small business owner and lifelong learner; in fact, I'm on break from a master's program in English and American literature, a field I have found both rigorous and rewarding.
In academic settings, I've had experience as a teaching assistant, research assistant, and philosophy tutor. The first position was in a philosophy and literature class; it involved evaluating student papers, coaching individuals on how to improve their assignments, and giving the occasional lecture. The tutoring position typically involved one-on-one meetings with students experiencing difficulties with their course material. Outside the academy, I directed an adult religious education program for a liberal Christian fellowship. My primary duty there was to facilitate small discussion groups of five or six people, during which I would comment on the text we were reading and then open the session for a free exchange of ideas; I also helped to develop a curriculum for prospective clergy.
Throughout the four years or so that I served in these positions, I realized that students are often held back by anxiety and a lack of confidence, and that a good tutoring session will involve positive encouragement. I provide this by explaining difficult texts and concepts in understandable terms, asking the student to express insights in his/her own words, and helping the student to turn these insights into successful assignments. I am interested in working primarily with college-age people and adult/mature learners but will tutor high schoolers as well.
Please feel free to contact me if you need help with term papers and other writing tasks, or if you're having trouble with ideas and assigned readings. I will respond quickly. Thank you!" less...
