"I have always loved journalism and writing and history and current events. I grew up outside Buffalo. I majored in journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. After graduating, I spent five years working at a newspaper in El Paso, Texas. After that, I moved to Syracuse and worked for the Syracuse Herald-Journal, and, later, The Post-Standard, where I work to this day.

My father was a professor and my sister is now. My wife teaches and works as a tutor. To be honest, I never really wanted to work in a classroom, but I have always loved working one on one with people. I have had many opportunities to do so while working as an editor in a newsroom, and now I want to use the skills I have learned in the community.

I have 33 years of experience writing and editing newspaper articles.

A love of history, especially American history, and a profound and ongoing passion for politics and current events.
