I quickly assess why a particular topic or problem is confusing for each individual. Sometimes it only takes a session or two to make math come into focus for a person. Other students may need ongoing support or someone they know will be available when they get a particularly difficult assignment. It gives me great satisfaction when students achieve self-confidence.
