"I have studied literature, writing and composition, procured an MA degree from Claremont Graduate University (CGU) as well as a BA from UCSB with a specialization in Early Modern Lit. I’ve also taken a UCLA Extension Novel writing class as well as a UCLA extension Journalism course. Also, I have written a novel. I was an adjunct professor at Los Angeles Valley College as well as a private tutor. I’ve also participated in the “Preparing Future Faculty” course at Claremont, and developed the latest teaching skills and techniques available.
During my Graduate School Studies at Claremont, I studied British and American Literature (and have a specialization in Early Modern Literature from UCSB), which have included analysis of novels from both countries, have taken entire courses on poetry and American Novels. I am also qualified to teach courses of early and late American literature. In addition I am something of a polyglot, speaking Spanish, and Italian.
With practice and understanding the mechanism behind the questions, my students will be ready for the ACTs. I also have the gift of explaining things well, much like a human Cliffsnotes. My method for teaching subjects involves providing a guideline for the material which will help reduce the overwhelm that students may face when struggling with the material. I pride myself on preparing lesson plans that are interactive and I do my best to make it interesting. For example, most students find Shakespeare’s works intimidating until they learn that only 5% of his writing utilizes words that are no longer in use today.
