"My name is Madeline. I am currently a student at UMass Amherst in the special education program. Recently I have become Wilson and Orton Gillingham (OG) certified. I have also started student teaching in my practicum placement and want to really practice my training and keep my OG skills fresh by tutoring students on the side. I am a passionate younger tutor that will promise to keep reading and learning to read fun by incorporating movement, games and different activities as well as lots of repetition.

I believe I have as much to learn from my students as I can teach them. My goal is to get children excited about reading and learning to read. As someone with Dyslexia I believe that I can relate and understand the dread/anxiety that reading can cause and I want to help eliminate that for all kids. I did extensive tutoring outside of school and over the summer and the benefits are clear. Within four years of my diagnoses my reading level went up to above grade level.

My experience in addition to my degree and certifications includes, being a lacrosse coach for eight years and a camp counselor for nine. I love feedback and want to grow my skills and would love the chance to give students the extra push outside of school so that they can feel great in their schools.
