"Hi! My name is Brianna, and I am a current master’s student in biomedical engineering at Columbia University. I graduated with my bachelor of science in biomedical engineering (summa cum laude) from Columbia this past spring. I was also the Richard Skalak Memorial Prize winner for having the highest GPA of the graduating biomedical engineering students. In high school, I received a 1550 on my SAT and a 35 on my ACT, as well as took a variety of IB and AP classes. As a result, I began volunteering to tutor other high school students in math, science, writing, study prep, etc. I also began tutoring students between the ages of 5 and 11 in all subjects. These were one-on-one in-person sessions during which I would review topics chosen by the students and work through relevant practice problems.

At Columbia University, I was a peer tutor for the Department of Biomedical Engineering during my senior year. I would tutor juniors in biomedical engineering in quantitative physiology and biology. These were either in-person or online one-on-one sessions during which I would review specific class topics chosen by the students and work through practice problems, answering any additional questions to help them to prepare for upcoming homework assignments or exams. In addition to tutoring, I was the lead of the Columbia Space Initiative’s Astrobiology Mission for over 2 years, which allowed me to teach groups of students about a variety of biomedical engineering topics. These included electrical engineering and circuitry, computer-aided design and 3D printing, computer programming and software engineering, hardware engineering and ergonomic design, automation, microbiology, biochemistry, and genomics/transcriptomics. Thus, I have tutored or taught elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as undergraduate students in a variety of majors." less...
