"I am currently a senior at Glendale High School with a strong passion and foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science. My coursework and scores have included a score of 5 on AP Calculus AB and a 4 on AP Physics 1. I am currently enrolled in AP Calculus BC and AP Physics 2, where I have maintained an A throughout the semester in both classes. I am also a student at Glendale Community College, where I have taken three years of Glendale Community College classes in advanced JavaScript and Python, and have earned an A in all courses.
My formal tutoring journey began in 2022 when I took an in-person job at a local middle school in Glendale, where many of the sixth- to eighth-grade students were English-language learners. I am now very familiar with working with students with language barriers, and I learned how to connect new terms to concepts they already knew. I am also familiar with adapting my tutoring to fit specific students’ needs or areas, and I do not use one set approach for all students, as some grasp concepts more quickly in certain areas than others.
Although I do follow a general guide while tutoring, my approach to teaching any student is to let them be exposed to the material initially and attempt the problems themselves. If I see that a student is lost, I step in to see if we can work through the problems together, allowing the student to recognize patterns as I model the process. I am always present to support my students, but I want them to experience the “aha” moment themselves. A major part of my tutoring philosophy is providing tailored lessons and helping students not only improve their grades but also enjoy problem-solving along the way." less...
