"I hold a Bachelor of Science from the Oregon Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Education from Portland State University. In addition to my formal degrees, I have completed counselor training through GSM International and received coach training through Landmark Education and the Tony Robbins Institute. This well-rounded educational background equips me to support students not only academically, but also in building confidence, motivation, and resilience.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. My formal classroom teaching includes serving as a full-time Algebra teacher at Marshall High School, where I taught 9th and 10th-grade students. I created daily lesson plans, managed classroom instruction, and provided after-school tutoring for students needing additional support in foundational and advanced Algebra concepts.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Physics Lab Instructor at Portland State University, teaching undergraduate students. This role emphasized experiential learning, where I guided students through hands-on experiments and helped them connect abstract physics principles with real-world applications. I was recognized as the university’s Most Outstanding Lab Instructor for my engaging and effective teaching methods.
Beyond formal classroom roles, I have tutored middle school, high school, and adult learners in math and science subjects for over a decade. My tutoring approach is student-centered, focusing on breaking down complex topics into understandable steps, using real-world examples, and building strong foundational skills. I tailor each session to the student's individual learning style, and I emphasize encouragement and confidence-building alongside academic progress.
This blend of academic training, classroom experience, and one-on-one tutoring has given me a deep understanding of how to help students thrive across a range of age groups and academic levels." less...
