"I work with my students through Math Competition Program (MCP). The goal of MCP is to give all students a solid foundation in competition mathematics. To successfully accomplish this, I build upon topics gradually and thoroughly - rather than providing a quick fix for problems and gaps. Every new idea and block of information needs time to become absorbed in student's mind. Every new skill needs to be practiced, to generate questions and to be practiced again, then generate more questions and challenge me together with student to make it "stick". I believe that once a child masters a skill, he or she is able to use it and build on it in an unlimited number of new applications.

I entered Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology at age of 16, about the same age as my AoPS students now. I worked as a National Lab (ANL) scientist, university (UC or Texas A&M), and industrial trainer. I teach any HS, college Math, Physics, Statistics or programming (SAS, SQL). I tutor teams for college competitions (HMMT, BMT, etc.).

My motto "..he leads and does not drag; he strengthens and does not discourage; he opens the way but does not conduct to the end (without the learner's own efforts). Leading, and not dragging, produces harmony. Strengthening and not discouraging makes attainment easy. Opening the way and not conducting to the end makes (the learner) thoughtful. " ( by Li Jing).

I am dedicated to providing a full-summer academic program with bi-weekly classes and homework. I believe that this is the most effective and the least stressful way for students to truly learn, understand, and enjoy mathematics.
