"I have been a math and computer science tutor since 2009 and have individually worked with over 200 students ranging from elementary school, middle school, high school and undergraduate college students. I tailor each lesson to the student's requirements and current abilities, helping them to understand the concepts as well as providing homework assistance and test preparation including standardized tests such as the SAT (Math), SAT Subject (Math Level I and II), ACT (Math and Science), and AP (Calculus and Computer Science).
I have also directly coached over 150 students in math team competitions such as the Washington State Mathematics Council (WSMC) Math Olympiad, Math Is Cool, MATHCOUNTS, and the Washington State Math Championship (Blaine), as well as individual competitions such as AMC 8 and 10 with a high level of success. I was the chairperson of the math competitions program at our local elementary school (Somerset) from 2009 to 2012 and at a private middle school (Eastside Catholic) from 2016 to 2018, leading over 200 four to eighth-grade students during the five-year period. I was responsible for academic and administrative tasks including conducting weekly study sessions, which an average of 30 students typically attended, as well as managing team registrations and timely communication with the parents. During my tenure and involvement, our teams participated in ten competitions and won an unprecedented 54 awards. I also led twenty-five students from 2014 to 2019 to prepare for the AMC 8 competition of which fourteen students won awards for either placing in the top 5% of the nation or earning one of the top three scores at their test center, which a minimum of 30 students typically attend per location.
Since 2018 I have been a mathematics instructor at AoPS Academy in Bellevue teaching Middle School Contest Math, Prealgebra and Beast Academy (elementary school) classes.
I have a great passion for teaching and discovered my love of working with students when I was in 5th grade. I take pride an" less...
