"I am a full-time tutor after leaving a more than 20-year career as a tenured mathematics professor at a teaching-oriented university. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics. I have been tutoring mathematics in many situations since I was in high school. I have experience teaching and tutoring mathematics across the curriculum at the college/university, high school, and developmental levels. I also have several years of experience serving as a reader for Advanced Placement Calculus exams. I also have experience mentoring undergraduate research students in mathematics primarily in mathematical biology and low dimensional topology.
I tutor in all areas of mathematics and gladly work to help students succeed in their mathematics studies and on their AP, ACT and SAT exams. I am eager to help my students succeed with their course work and develop study habits, strategies, and confidence that will help them beyond their current course content. Throughout my teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked with middle school, high school, college/university, and adult students. I have worked with students in advanced mathematics courses at top universities, including Math 55 at Harvard.
Courses I tutor include algebra (all levels), geometry, precalculus, calculus (all parts of calculus), business calculus, calculus for the life sciences, trigonometry, ACT and SAT mathematics, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, abstract algebra, differential equations, real and complex analysis, modern geometry, differential geometry, topology, graph theory and combinatorics, probability and statistics, and mathematics content for elementary teachers. This includes course support and exam preparation for advanced placement (AP) Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and Statistics. I am currently writing a calculus for the life sciences textbook. For computational technology, I can help students with graphing calculators, computer algebra systems, and dynamic geometry software." less...
