I’ve taught at the university level (both community colleges and for-profit institutions) and even taught a 5th grade science course for 12 weeks, which was a blast. I enjoy working with students of all ages — including adult learners — who are willing to tackle challenging topics. I’ve worked with students with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and other special needs, and I bring a personal understanding to these experiences (I’m dyslexic and ambidextrous myself).
Outside tutoring, I work in energy and utilities, doing drafting, GIS, and mineral title work. While in college, I completed two internships with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and contributed to the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) team, Spirit and Opportunity.
I tailor each tutoring session to the student’s goals — whether focusing on specific concepts, test-taking strategies, or problem visualization. Students take an active role in selecting topics, which builds confidence, enthusiasm, and critical thinking. I also love connecting concepts to real-world examples, making the material practical and memorable.
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy reading (I track down friends’ favorite books), running and walking with my dogs, and staying active — I’ve completed eight half-marathons and one full marathon." less...
