I’ve taught at the university level (both community colleges and for-profit institutions), as well as K–12 science, including a 12-week 5th-grade science course. I work with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners, especially students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or convinced they “just aren’t good at math or science.”
I have extensive experience working with students with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I bring a personal understanding to this work — I’m dyslexic myself — and adapt sessions to match each student’s learning style, pace, and goals.
Outside of tutoring, I work professionally in energy and utilities, focusing on drafting, GIS, and mineral title work. During college, I completed two internships with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and worked on the Mars Exploration Rover (Spirit & Opportunity) mission, which allows me to connect theory to real-world applications.
My tutoring style is collaborative and goal-driven. Students play an active role in choosing topics and problem types, whether we’re strengthening fundamentals, preparing for exams, or improving problem-solving strategies. I emphasize conceptual understanding, visualization, and confidence, so students can succeed independently — not just during our sessions.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading (often tracking down friends’ favorite books), running and walking with my dogs, and staying active. I’ve completed eight half-marathons and one full marathon — an accomplishment I’m proud of, and happy to say was a one-time experience!" less...
