"Hi there! My name is Kate and I am a current sophomore at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo majoring in Computer Engineering. I attended Lake Oswego Senior HS in Lake Oswego, Oregon(near Portland), and offer online meeting-based STEM tutoring to MS/HS/AP students!
Listed below are the STEM courses that I am offering tutoring in! For HS subjects, I do Algebra 1,2, geometry, precalculus, Chemistry and Biology. The AP/College Level courses that I tutor are: AP Computer Science A (5), AP Physics C Mechanics(5), AP Physics 1(5), and AP Chemistry(5), AP Calc AB & BC(5), AP Statistics(4), and AP Computer Science Principles(4). I also have hands-on robotics and internship experience in C, C++, Java, and Python programming languages, and Data Structures and Algorithms.
I have had previous experience working as a tutor for Middle School students during my Junior year of high school, where I tutored for the accelerated middle-school programs in Algebra 1 and Geometry. During my senior year, I was an in-class teacher assistant and grader for Algebra 2 at my high school. I tutored students and graded their tests and homework.
In terms of working with kids, I was a Little League Softball Coach during my senior year of high school for the majors division, and also gave private softball lessons to the local youth. I learned ways to motivate kids and make them feel supported in an environment driven by work ethic, which is applicable both on the field and in the classroom. It also helped me understand that different teaching mechanisms can be employed for each student, because everyone approaches learning in different conditions and learning styles. Each practice would implement an organized plan with a current evaluation, a question forum, exercises, and post-session evaluation. I would follow up with each player periodically to check on how they are doing individually as well." less...
