"I graduated Cum Laude from West Chester University in Pennsylvania with a BS in Secondary Mathematics Education. Since then, over the past 18 years, I have received math teaching certificates in South Carolina, New Mexico and Georgia. These experiences were in both public and private middle/high schools while my students ranged in age from 12 to 19. My current certification is in Georgia. I also taught at an international school in Nairobi, Kenya for 3 years. In addition, I have done private one-on-one tutoring in Florida and Nebraska. I have taught Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, AP Calculus AB, Physical Science, and Physics. I have also tutored Chemistry, Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus.

My goal, as a teacher/tutor, is to make information easier to understand than the textbook. I like to break concepts down into understandable steps and show how to use these steps. I also use inquiry methods to get students to derive formulas on their own. This helps them to retain knowledge and remember the process or be able to recreate it. I believe the best way for students to be successful is to grasp the concepts and practice application of them. Students have often told me they never understood math until they had me as a teacher.

In addition to teaching, I have created a crash course in SAT prep to prepare students for the SAT test. This course is designed to help students to answer questions when they are unsure of the answer. It is important to know the strategies of test taking and know when to apply them.
