"I’m a dual-enrollment engineering student at Durham Technical Community College pursuing an Associate of Science with a focus in Electrical Engineering. Alongside high school, I’ve completed college-level Precalculus Algebra and Calculus I with strong performance, and I’m continuing into higher math and physics as part of my degree plan. Working through these courses while still in high school has given me a very fresh, practical understanding of the topics I tutor: middle school math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and introductory Calculus concepts.
Over the past few years, I’ve regularly helped classmates and younger students who were struggling in math. This has included one-on-one homework help, test review sessions, small-group study in both high school and college settings, and informal mentoring in STEM and robotics. Most of the students I’ve worked with are middle school and high school age, including those who feel “behind” or anxious about math. I’m used to meeting students where they are, whether that’s reinforcing foundational skills or pushing into more advanced problem-solving.
My tutoring approach is patient, structured, and focused on true understanding. I like to start by asking a few questions or looking at a recent assignment to see what a student already knows and where the confusion begins. From there, I break problems down step-by-step, explain the “why” behind each method, and model how to think through new types of questions. Once the student is more comfortable, we work through practice problems together and gradually shift responsibility to them, so they can solve independently and feel confident going into quizzes and tests.
Above all, I aim to create a no-judgment space where students feel comfortable asking questions. For credibility I have a 4.4 gpa, All A's throughout my math courses, and a 1550 SAT score so I am willing to help with any area of math!" less...
