"Hi. My name is Sigrid Kimbrough.

I have a deep background in math with 10 years teaching in the classroom and tutoring as well as 10 years applying math to solve real world business problems as an actuary. My training includes teacher certification for high school and middle school math, BA in mathematics, Masters Degree in Actuarial Science. I have also been a grader for the Praxis teacher assessment.

I prefer tutoring over classroom teaching as I find that the student will gain in understanding, confidence, ability and independence more quickly. As an experienced tutor I am able to determine the student's current level and find any current misunderstandings and/or gaps. This allows me to meet students where they are with their understanding and build from there to support them to their goals. My goal is for you (or your child) to reach independence. I want the student to be a strong confident independent math learner. I will work with you until you no longer need me.

Many people ask me about my name. Here is the story behind my name. Sigrid is not common where I live in Atlanta, GA, although it is very common is some parts of Europe. My parents lived in Germany and Switzerland while my father served in the US Army during the early years of their marriage before I was born. They heard the name Sigrid while they were there. All of my other siblings had already been named Susan, Sally and Johnnie. When I was born they named me Sigrid.
