"I am a PhD graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). I've been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over 20 years. My strongest personal characteristics in tutoring are that I'm good with children and adults with anxiety or attention deficit disorder, patient with the student, and encouraging. There are objectives that I have when tutoring the student: explaining the material so that the student understands it, building self-confidence in the student's ability to solve problems, and helping the student enjoy the learning process.

I often incorporate relevant history of the topic in order to grab the student's interest. For example, René Descartes introduced the cartesian plane. Legend has it that Descartes discovered this coordinate system when lying in his bed and watching a bug move across the ceiling.
