"Math is often seen as the subject that's boring and tedious. I can't say this is necessarily wrong but it isn't necessarily true. "Math is often seen as the subject that's boring and tedious. I can't say this is necessarily wrong but it isn't necessarily true. I like to show students that math as akin to a puzzle game you can play. Once you know the rules of the game, it finally becomes crystal clear on how to play the math game and, most importantly, win. As you could possibly tell, I love playing games and puzzles. I have been tutoring professionally for over three years now and worked in a wide variety of students when it came to goals, grade levels, and struggles. I can tutor Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 with my style consisting of mini-lectures with a focus on going through numerous examples. While math is my favorite subject to teach, I also tutor reading/writing for all grade levels. I especially specialize in tutoring SAT and ACT among other college prep tests where I like to follow along a textbook to keep the lessons organized and give both relevant practice and homework for the student to do.
I am generally very flexible working with students as I will adapt to whatever learning style and lesson format they prefer from our available options. I often tutor one on one, but also have tutored groups before up to five people that were paced differently based on their needs. Even before I began to professionally tutor, I volunteered at my high school to assist my fellow students in their math classes for an additional two years. I have previously graduated for Florida International University for my Bachelors and I am now currently in graduate school at the University of Florida. I aim to enhance the skills and engagement of my students to prepare them for not only the education system, but their futures." less...
