"I am a certified mathematics teacher, grades 6-12. I double majored in Mathematics and Secondary Education at the University of Rhode Island, and taught math for eight years at both the high school and middle school levels. I taught multiple grade levels and subjects in Pasco County for five years, and for one year in Rhode Island. Then, I taught seventh grade math for two years in Hillsborough County. I transitioned to full time tutoring thereafter, and have been tutoring students from 3rd grade to adult learners since 2014.

Working one-on-one with students is the most rewarding part of my career. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult for students to get that time with their classroom teacher. As a result, I place a large emphasis on developing a rapport with each student to foster a comfortable learning atmosphere, and I use differentiation to promote individualized teaching based on the student's needs and learning style.

Throughout my eight years of teaching, I have accumulated an abundance of resources that really help students practice and learn the subject material. I spend time studying and preparing to ensure that each session is productive and the student's knowledge continues to grow. I focus on multiple-step word problems, which accelerates their learning and gives them an advantage over their peers in state testing. I assign and grade additional homework or quizzes based on student need or request, and am available via text or e-mail to answer questions or clarify concepts. Lastly, I provide detailed lesson summaries that outline the session and illustrate an action plan for continued growth.

I am willing to commute to a convenient central location or provide in-home instruction. I have also developed a teaching method utilizing simple resources to provide efficient and effective online tutoring, which has greatly benefitted dozens of students over the past several years." less...
