"I am Melanka, Math PhD graduate from University of Maryland. I also have a bachelors degree in Computer Science. My teaching career began as a Teaching Assistant in 2018 when I started out as a PhD student at UMD. I have taught many courses from Prealgebra to Calculus to Differential Equations to Abstract Algebra. As a TA, I usually work with groups of students (typically 20 at a time) to help them work through worksheets based on content they have already learnt in lectures. I attend to the needs of each student individually during these sessions. I have also, conducted my own courses as the Sole Instructor. As such I have worked with hundreds of College level students with varying skills and backgrounds.

Later on in my career, with my experience and love for teaching, I took up private tutoring. Since then, I have tutored many College and High School students with around 1500+ hours of tutoring (both on and out of Wyzant). My experience at College level helped me gradually develop my skills as a tutor. Every student is different, I assess and understand individual students, so that I can give them a customized learning experience.

I was awarded the "Aziz Osborn Gold Medal in Teaching Excellence - 2020", in recognition of my teaching at University of Maryland.
