"I have recently earned both a degree and a post-baccalaureate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Oregon State University. I have completed multiple upper-division courses, including Linear Algebra II and Advanced Calculus.

I have experience tutoring students in an unpaid setting, primarily helping peers and underclassmen with mathematics coursework. I’ve worked one-on-one with students struggling in Algebra I, Geometry, and Precalculus, as well as college-level courses such as Linear Algebra I and Calculus. My approach focuses on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and adapting explanations based on each student’s learning style.

Through unpaid tutoring, I’ve learned how to identify where a student is getting stuck and adjust my explanations using a variety of techniques until the concept clicks. For example, if a numerical or abstract concept is confusing, I may use diagrams, metaphors, or alternative perspectives to help the student develop a deeper understanding.

My goal as a tutor is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them develop confidence and an appreciation for the subject. From my own experience studying mathematics, I’ve found that the most effective way to support a student is to spark their interest in the topic, rather than overwhelming them with formulas or procedures all at once.
