"I moved to Bluffton after completing thirty-three years of high school teaching and six years as a community college instructor in Ohio. I hold master’s degree in mathematics. My teaching experience includes virtually every math course that is offered in high school. This ranges from basic skills math to honors math. In addition, I taught advanced placement calculus for 30 years. Consequently, I have a broad background working with different learning styles and abilities. My students frequently use graphing calculators as a learning tool.

In order for students to be successful in mathematics, they need an understanding of both concepts and procedures. With an emphasis only on concepts student can become overwhelmed with theory. With and emphasis only on procedures students can easily become bored. My goal is to combine these two, to build a solid foundation for learning. Once students understand both the why and how, they typically can make good progress.
