"I received my Bachelor of Science in Education with a Major in Mathematics from the world-class University of Wisconsin-Madison. I previously held both a Wisconsin and Illinois Teaching licenses while working for several years at a tutoring center in Illinois with a focus on mathematics and science test preparation. After a few years tutoring and substitute teaching I returned to graduate school to earn my Master of Science in Mathematics with a specialization in Education from Northern Illinois University. While earning my Master's degree I served as a teaching assistant instructing calculus courses and worked in the university's mathematics tutoring center.
Following the completion of my Master's degree I relocated to Colorado to pursue a life in the mountains as a public school mathematics teacher. In addition to high school level mathematics, I've taught concurrent enrollment courses at high schools as well as held adjunct instructor positions at the community college level over the summer term. I'm currently a part-time teacher in Clear Creek County and balance a life with three elementary-aged children and a spouse working in the chaotic world of health care. As a result my availability is constantly shifting.
My last seven years in Mathematics classrooms has been a whirlwind in the most exciting ways. I've taught everything from remedial Algebra through second semester calculus; early teenagers to young adults; high school to community college; in-person to online-only. Teaching mathematics in these wide ranging environments challenged me to hone my communication, and continually adapt my presentation to suit a broad array of learners.
