"Hi, my name is Kyden. I'm from Arizona and attended Arizona State University where I received my B.S. in Mathematics in 2023 and my M.A. in Mathematics in 2024. I have been tutoring privately and professionally for over 5 years and have worked with over 120 students during this time, including college tutoring at ASU. I have worked with students ranging from 6th grade up to PhD students studying pure math. Mathematics has always been my biggest passion, and tutoring allows me to share this passion with others while also giving me a deeper understanding of the subjects I teach.
In that regard, my primary method of teaching is to cultivate students' problem-solving skills beyond simple memorization of facts, formulas, and definitions. For example, when I work with students on homework problems, getting the correct answer is secondary to understanding the foundational knowledge needed to find the answer and the logic behind how we apply this knowledge. Although memorizing equations might be enough to get students through their next test, building this intuition and critical thinking helps students succeed throughout their life in, not only mathematics, but every endeavor. That being said, every students learns and studies differently, and I will always adjust my teaching style as necessary to ensure their success.
In my spare time I also enjoy playing classical piano, gardening, hiking, and reading. Besides tutoring, I also have experience as an industrial electrician.
Subjects I've tutored include: Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Real Analysis, Topology, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra." less...
