"I am a mathematics major at Southern New Hampshire University with a minor in information technology and a 4.0 GPA. I am projected to earn my degree on November 1st, 2025. I have completed a wide variety of math courses, including calculus, linear and abstract algebra, statistics, and mathematical modeling. I also recently completed a seminar math course where I researched and presented Markov models for estimating corporate bond credit risk. I really enjoyed presenting and defending my work, and it inspired me to pursue tutoring further.
In addition to my academic background, I have professional experience working as a web developer. An essential aspect of this job is explaining technical terms to clients in a way they can understand.
I have been tutoring informally since high school, helping friends, classmates, and neighbors with homework and exam prep for various math classes. I have worked with students ranging from middle school (7th grade) to college (Junior). Most of my tutoring sessions have been one-on-one in-person sessions where I focus on building understanding and gaining confidence through solving problems and explaining difficult concepts. This approach guides the student on the most effective (at least in my opinion) method for learning and understanding math: solving practice problems.
I have also tutored in different formats. During the pandemic, I assisted a student virtually with her Calculus II homework. In high school, I was a member of the math honor society and occasionally tutored students in a study group after school. While I prefer traditional individual tutoring, I can adapt to any scenario best suited to the student." less...
