"I went back to school when I was 23 years old, having failed pre-calculus in high school. I tested into high school algebra at Paradise Valley Community College. I originally set out to study philosophy, however the logical structure of algebra appealed to me.

From this point I took class after class, working my way into calculus and applying for a job at the tutoring center. By the time I got into differential equations, I had realized I wanted to commit my life to growing in the knowledge of mathematics.

I loved sharing my experiences and struggles with other students in the tutoring center when I first obtained my position at Paradise Valley Community College. During this period of time I discovered several proofs and explanations in trigonometry. I shared these things with students who were curious as well. Seeing and sharing in the experience of how beautiful and elegant mathematics can be motivated my desire to pursue “work” that did not feel like “work”.

My educational background is in Mechanical Engineering (ASU), having been part of an R&D team which cleared two FDA medical devices in little more than three years. I have taught virtually all age groups at three different community colleges over the span of the last 10 years. I also have experience tutoring at the elementary and middle school level while I tutored at Mathnasium.

In my free time I enjoy reading psychology and philosophy of law. I ran a marathon several years ago and I’d like to run another in the near future." less...
