"I am a graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. My studies were extensive and rigorous, covering a wide range of topics, like Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra as well as higher-level subjects like Analysis, Probability Theory, Abstract Algebra, and Differential Geometry. This deep theoretical background allows me to not only teach the "how" (the procedures) but the "why" (the intuition) behind complex mathematical concepts, which is crucial for lasting understanding.
My passion for math has always been linked to helping others "get it." Throughout my time at university, I was a consistent tutor for my peers. I specialized in helping students navigate the challenges of Calculus III (Multivariable Calculus), successfully guiding them to pass their final exams. I also have experience tutoring more advanced undergraduate subjects on a one-on-one basis, including Probability Theory and Abstract Algebra. Following graduation, I worked as a STEM Instructor for Lavner Education, where I taught a variety of math topics (including algorithms, algebra, and trigonometry) to students aged 6-12. This experience taught me how to adapt and make complex ideas accessible to different age groups.
My teaching philosophy is built on a dialectical approach. I firmly believe that math becomes engaging and accessible when it connects to a student's own life and experiences. I don't just teach formulas; I work with the student to understand how they see the problem. From there, we build a bridge from their current understanding to the new concept using examples and questions that are tailored to their perspective. Whether we're tackling a first look at algebra or diving into the proofs of abstract algebra, my goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where students can build confidence and an intuitive grasp of mathematics." less...
