"Hi I'm Riya! I'm a current first-year medical student at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. I'm also a member of the Seven-Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education Program at BU, so I completed my undergraduate years at BU as well.
I have taken the MCAT twice in the past year, so I understand first-hand how challenging studying for this long exam can be. I am here to help and support you through your MCAT journey with whatever you may need, whether that be content review/filling in content gaps, working through practice problems, identifying and improving upon mistakes, building test-taking strategies (question approach, timing, endurance, etc.), or creating a personalized study plan that is effective for you. The MCAT is an ever-changing exam, but having taken it within the last 6 months, I can provide you with up-to-date study skills and knowledge that will help you improve your performance on your test date.
I have scored 515+ (90th percentile+) on the MCAT, and I have previous tutoring experience through 3 years of volunteer work of tutoring my peers and classmates for SAT prep (high schoolers), as well as in subjects such as biology and chemistry. I am most experienced in one-on-one tutoring, and I find that tutoring is not a one-size-fits-all type of approach. The most important thing that I keep in mind are the student's individual and personal needs, and I always cater my tutoring sessions to whatever you feel that you need help with or what you need to improve upon.
My goal through tutoring is to bring you to your fullest potential, as I believe that every student has the capability to do excellent on the MCAT. It's all about finding your weak spots and working on them until they become your strongest spots! My personal approach includes helping you to think-like a successful test taker, thereby helping you to become one.
Good luck on your journey to medical school, I wish you all the best and I hope that I can be a small part of it!" less...
