"I attended the University of Alabama for undergraduate where I studied economics while pre-med. For medical school I attended Wake Forest School of Medicine and I am currently a PGY-2 psychiatry resident at Wake Forest. I decided on psychiatry somewhat later in medical school so in my personal statement I had to really persuade my readers that I was all-in for psychiatry despite not having years of other experiences in the field like some applicants. Throughout the interview trail for residency, I received very positive feedback on my personal statement in almost every interview; one advisor from Wake Forest told me "Your personal statement was incredible, it made ME want to go into psychiatry."

Regarding my standardized test taking experience, I scored 518 (97%percentile) on the MCAT, 250+ on Step 1, 270+ on step 2CK, and recently took Step 3. I scored within the range required for honors (typically >80 percentile) on every USMLE shelf exam including psychiatry, internal medicine, surgery, OBGYN, pediatrics, family medicine, and neurology. I regularly teach medical students and occasionally give lectures to third year medical students. I also have experiencing teaching a class on clinical decision making for first year medical students." less...
