Hi! I’m Duncan, an internal medicine & psychiatry resident and longtime educator with 20 years of teaching experience. I’ve spent five of those years as an MCAT instructor for Kaplan, three teaching and mentoring medical students at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and currently work beside renowned learning specialists at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
I’ve worked with students from all walks of life including those returning to school after time away, managing learning differences, or regrouping after unexpected detours. I’ve seen how much potential can be hidden beneath self-doubt. Helping people find their footing and move forward with confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
As a nontraditional student myself, I scored a 527 on the MCAT while juggling grad school, teaching, and clinical work, and later earned a 273 on Step 2 while leading yoga classes, writing research manuscripts, and completing med school clerkships. I also offer medical school and residency admissions counseling, and have helped students strengthen their applications, write authentic personal statements, and navigate the process with more grace.
I’ve helped students raise their scores by creating structure, focusing on what matters most, and offering steady encouragement. Whether we’re working on content, strategy, test anxiety, or study habits, I tailor everything to your needs and goals.
If you’re looking for someone who listens, meets you where you’re at, and helps you make a plan that fits the life you actually lead, we should talk :)
