"I started college in 2015, and took the opportunity to become an Anatomy and Physiology supplemental instructor (tutor) for the Office of Student success in 2018 and did this for about a year. In 2019, I became a teaching assistant for Microbiology and worked alongside a professor collectively for 2 years (4 semesters), starting as a undergraduate and continuing after graduation. I've taught mostly college age students, but I am familiar with the fundamentals of subjects like anatomy and physiology, basic biology, AP Biology and introductory microbiology to cater to different education levels to include high school learners and those striving for AP placement into college. I've taught in group settings, one on one, and have also tutored for these subjects. My approach is multifaceted, and includes basic instruction, visual aids, flashcards, study techniques and tricks, and note taking skills, all of which I believe are important skills for a student's academic success.
I earned my Medical Laboratory Science Degree in 2019 and have been working as an Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) since I graduated. I sat for and earned my MLS certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) shortly after graduation. I have chosen to specialize in Microbiology and have served as a Microbiology Technical Supervisor and now Microbiology Supervisor for the last 4.5 years. In 2025, I graduated with my Masters degree in Health Administration to better serve my team as a leader and as a healthcare professional. With my current role, I teach the microbiology lectures and labs for a Medical Laboratory Science program here in Kansas City. I strive to be an active part of a student's academic journey, and take their success personally." less...
