"I am a current 4th-year medical student at UCI, planning on applying into emergency medicine. I am also completing a Master's in Public Health this year, with a concentration in Health Policy and Management. Prior to starting a career in medicine, I worked as a musician and music teacher. I love helping students and peers achieve their academic and personal goals through individualized lesson plans.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies with a concentration in guitar performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2015 and worked as a freelance musician and guitar teacher from 2012 to 2018. During that time, I taught guitar, music theory, and improvisation at several music schools and summer camps in the Cincinnati area, as well as through my own studio. I taught students of all ages and abilities in both group and individual lessons, and tailored lessons to the interests and learning styles of my students.
In 2018, I decided to explore alternative careers, and to a job as a medical scribe in a federally qualified health center in San Diego. During that time, I also gained experience volunteering at migrant shelters in San Diego and Tijuana. In 2020, I completed a post-baccalaureate premedical certificate at Scripps College and took the MCAT, scoring in the 98th percentile for that year. I entered the MD program at the University of California Irvine in 2021 on a full-tuition scholarship and am currently taking a year off to complete a master's in public health at UCLA.
Throughout medical school, I have provided help to several premedical students on applications, interviews, and test-taking strategies. I enjoy helping students and peers find new ways to tackle difficult problems and break down large concepts into manageable pieces. I aim to meet students where they are at and give them the tools they need to meet their goals." less...
