"My name is Trent! I graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's in microbiology, I then went on to graduate summa cum laude from Bluefield University with a master's in biomedical sciences. I am currently enrolled and hold a position in the top 30% (3.8+ GPA) in my class at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. I have passed Step 1/COMLEX level 1 last year. What I have learned throughout my extensive student career is that learning the WHY and asking critical questions is the key to truly understanding a topic and grasping the applicability of that topic. I also firmly believe in getting outside of one's comfort zone with a topic as a necessary step in achieving high levels of knowledge synthesis.

Most of my formal teaching experience was my role as an organic chemistry TA in college for 2 semesters of senior year. I was responsible for small group teaching (5-10 students), one on one instruction, and large classroom lectures (100+ students). I was engaged in helping solve problem sets, teach curriculum, and develop practice questions to test students. I have a passion for teaching but have not had an opportunity due to my time commitments as a medical student recently. Recently I have started to privately tutor friends with their USMLE step 1 preparation. I am very passionate and have a successful relationship with this exam. Although my focus is on tutoring for this exam, I do have expertise in any pre-medical science course within the realm of biology (biochem, mircobiology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, immunology).

I truly want my students to excel and understand the material on an exceptional level. I have a growth mindset towards instruction and think anyone with the appropriate instruction can excel at the level of a top 10% student in any field they chose.
