"I am a former middle and high school teacher with over ten years of experience, holding an MFA in Creative Writing and an active teaching credential. I currently work as a mentor for teens and young adults across San Diego. My background includes teaching in both classroom and one-on-one settings, supporting students with a wide range of needs, from motivation and confidence-building to navigating academic and personal challenges. Over the years, I have developed a relational and student-centered approach, focusing on helping young people connect with their values, strengths, and personal goals.
In my mentoring practice, I provide consistent one-on-one support that encourages self-reflection, goal-setting, and problem-solving. I work closely with each student to understand their unique challenges and aspirations, offering guidance, accountability, and strategies to help them grow both personally and academically. My approach is grounded, patient, and relational, emphasizing active listening, thoughtful questioning, and the cultivation of a safe space where students feel heard and empowered.
I have experience mentoring students in a variety of contexts, including in-school programs, private sessions, and volunteer opportunities. The students I work with range from early teens to young adults, and my goal is always to provide steady guidance that meets them where they are. Through this work, I have helped young people improve their confidence, develop clearer direction, and build skills to navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness." less...
