"Hi! I'm Patrick, and I specialize in middle school and high school math! I recently graduated from Kennesaw State University, obtaining my teaching license and a BSEd in secondary mathematics, and I'm now looking to tutor math both online and in-person near Atlanta.

While I was in college, I worked as a tutor at Mathnasium for 2 years, gaining critical experience in math communication with kids of all ages. Because of the diversity of learners I had the opportunity to work with, I feel that I can effectively communicate and teach math to students of all abilities and backgrounds - whether that be students who are a few years behind looking to master arithmetic before taking high school algebra, or students who are several years ahead looking to get a head-start in calculus. I also worked as an intern teacher at Campbell High School, Dickerson Middle School, and Roswell High School, with my experience at Roswell serving as my full-year clinical internship; I worked as a full-time teacher with guidance from a mentor, being fully responsible for planning and teaching every lesson/activity all day during the school year.

From all of these experiences, I've learned that learning is most effective when students can construct their own knowledge through hands-on learning with the teacher acting as a guide/facilitator. In this way, students can understand the “why” and “how” of learning, engage in higher-level thinking, and make their learning meaningful and interesting to them individually. In this approach, students are building up more than just their mathematical knowledge; they’re learning how to reason, how to think critically, and how to work through challenging problems, and that’s a skill that’ll stick with you for the rest of your life - this is always my goal when I teach.
