"I am a 30 year veteran teacher who has worked extensively in the core subjects with children who have difficulty learning and are considered at risk. My experience and degrees are in the areas of Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Autism, and Reading. I have extensive expertise in the areas of reading, math, the process of learning, and the development of language acquisition.
Since I grew up in a mathematical household (my father being one of the top 10 engineers in the country) I have developed the ability to explain simple and complex math concepts to my students. This has allowed me to work with students from Kindergarten through high school. Most recently I went to college with one of my student helping them through college Algebra.
I believe that all children are capable of learning if given the opportunity and the correct method of instruction. I use a hands on approach to assist children in making learning come alive and relevant to them. For this reason, I utilize the students strengths, and learning styles to assist them in overcoming their difficulty with a subject and become successful in the classroom.
I hold Master Reading, Special Education, and ESL certifications from Texas in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. In addition, I hold an elementary, and reading specialist certification from Michigan. I hold the prestigious certification as PRSE ( professionally Recognized Special Educator) through CEC (Council for Exceptional Children). Thus, recognizing my expertise in working with children who are divergent learners nation wide. Additionally, I am versed in special education law, as a result I will attend 504 and ARD meeting as an advocate for my student to ensure that the school provides the best learning environment for them." less...
